I have been working in the chemical dependency recovery field since 1994. I also continue to participate in my own recovery from addiction, which began in 1986. For me early recovery was like being on an emotional roller coaster and I didn't have many coping skills to deal with it. I found therapy to be so helpful that I set a goal to become a therapist and help others on that level. I accomplished this goal by going to Sonoma State University and getting a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1994. I then began working in chemical dependency treatment centers as a counselor. I loved the work and was able to witness many lives at the beginning of their transformation. I furthered my education, graduating from the University of San Francisco in 2000 and becoming a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2008. The educational process took a while for me as I continued to put my recovery first as well as my marriage and family.
I have eighteen years experience working in chemical dependency treatment centers, nine of which were in a long-term Christian Rehab. Many of the people I was privileged to help also had trauma issues throughout their lives that needed to be addressed and dealt with. Through therapy along side 12 step programs their lives changed dramatically for the good. I also spent time working at a safe house, counseling women and children fleeing from domestic violence. Additionally, I have specific training to help military veterans and their families.
I am looking forward to working with you and helping you transform your life.
